The Louisa County Sheriff’s office has arrested a suspect in a child sexual abuse investigation.
A news release from the sheriff’s office indicates late last month it received a report from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office in Florida regarding an allegation of sex abuse of a minor that occurred in Oakville. An investigation determined that the suspect had been sexually abusing two children multiple times over the past 11 years at multiple locations, including a residence in Oakville, IA.
As a result, 71-year-old Malcom Patterson of Oakville was arrested on Tuesday and charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse, Lascivious Acts with a Child, and Indecent Contact with a Child. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of 72 years in prison.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
