Coralville Police have arrested a child endangerment suspect they say left a two-year-old and a five-year-old home alone.
Arrest records indicate late on the night of June 22nd 32-year-old Lukas Jones was watching the two children at his residence while their mother was away. He communicated to the mother that he was in his car charging his phone, and the two children were inside the house sleeping. But when the mother arrived home, she was unable to find Jones inside or outside the residence.
The five-year-old told police that Jones had been gone for a long time and the boy had been awake the entire time Jones was supposed to be watching him. The child did now know how to call 9-1-1 or what to do in an emergency, and he has trouble opening the front door of the residence.
Jones is now charged with two counts of Child Endangerment. If convicted, he faces a maximum of four years in jail.
