Cedar Rapids man accused of stealing over $500 in meat from Coralville Hy-Vee

A Cedar Rapids man is accused of stealing over $500 in meat during a Coralville shoplifting incident.

Staff at the Crosspark Road Hy-Vee told investigators that 57-year-old Patrick Cooks of 4th Avenue SE was caught on closed circuit television placing $522.62 in meat into a shopping cart, then exiting the store with it without paying. The incident happened just before 10:30 on the night of August 20th, but Cooks was only booked into the Johnson County Jail Friday morning. He’s charged with 4th Degree Theft, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.
