Iowa City Police say a Coralville man with a no-contact order against him recently harassed and tailed the protected party.
According to arrest records, 19-year-old Michel Mbokolo of Kodiak Court called the protected party numerous times on Thursday night, then started waiting at the person’s residence when they returned home just after 10:30 p.m. after the other person stopped answering the calls. The protected party saw Mbokolo waiting and kept driving, with Mbokolo then following in his own vehicle. Mbokolo allegedly kept calling the protected party while they were on the phone with the police, who caught up with the two near the intersection of Dickinson Lane and Russell Drive. The arresting officer claims Mbokolo made a statement that included information he could only know if he had just spoken with the protected party.
Mbokolo is charged with Violating a No-Contact Order and 2nd Degree Harassment. If convicted, he faces up to one year in jail.
