An Iowa City man was arrested after allegedly using a stolen credit card to buy beer at a drugstore.
According to the police reports, the victim reported his card had been stolen and used at the CVS store on Muscatine Avenue the afternoon of June 29th. An investigation determined that 31-year-old Rodney Bryant of Hollywood Court was at the store at the time and charged $14.07 worth of beer. The victim also reported additional declined transactions from their account, and Bryant was allegedly seen on video footage both at CVS and other locations trying to use the card.
Bryant allegedly admitted to using the card when interviewed.
A warrant was issued on Tuesday and Bryant was picked up later that day. He faces charges of unauthorized use of a credit card and 5th degree theft. If convicted on both counts, Bryant could be sentenced to up to 25 months in jail. He was released on his own recognizance pending arraignment.
