The City of Storm Lake is seeking quotes from contractors and signage professionals to help install exterior metal blade sign brackets on commercial storefronts throughout the city’s Central Business District.
The project is part of a downtown enhancement initiative designed to improve the visual appeal of downtown Storm Lake, encourage foot traffic and create more uniform signage among commercial properties.
The city has allocated $30,000 for the program and plans to use unit-based pricing to maximize the number of businesses that can participate within the available funding.
Contractors selected for the project will be responsible for supplying and professionally installing durable, weather-resistant metal brackets. The work will include assessing individual building facades — including historic brick, masonry, wood and metal — to determine appropriate mounting methods.
Installation will need to comply with applicable building codes, and mounting points will be sealed to protect buildings from weather exposure.
Contractors submitting quotes must provide product information for the proposed brackets, a breakdown of supply, hardware and labor costs, installation methods and proof of liability insurance. The city is requiring $1 million in coverage per occurrence and $2 million in aggregate coverage.
Selected contractors will also be required to obtain sign and right-of-way permits before beginning work.
