Eli Stines, Boone Mayor, talks about the Boone City Council meeting Monday. The Council did received an updated Housing Needs Assessment done by Mid-Iowa Planning Alliance. The last Housing Needs Assessment was done in 2023. The most recent report shows improvement in numbers but there’s still a need for more housing to meet both lower and higher lever earners. John Roosa, Administrator, Boone County Landfill and Boone County Recycling. Roosa talks about the schedule for the Landfill over the July 4th Holiday. He also talks about the new fee being charged for taking municipal solid waste at the landfill. It went into effect July 1st. That also happened to be the date that the diversion effort of taking C&D (construction and demolition) waste from Ames and Story County to MetroWaste authority ended. Dale Schoening, Chair of the Iowa Municipal Band Festival and Jill Lutz, Boone Municipal Band visit about the 33rd Annual Iowa Municipal Band Festival to be held at Herman Park Pavilion in Boone on July 12th. Dale Schoening reviews the list of bands for this year’s event. Lutz provides updates on the balance of the municipal bands season reminding everyone that the regular Wednesday Concert will not take place this week, but the Patriotic Concert on Friday, July 4th will be held at 7:30 in the evening at the Pavilion. Two more regular Wednesday Concerts will follow on July 9th and 16th. Aired Tuesday, July 01, 2025.
