A North Liberty woman has won a nationwide search for the country’s best a capella performance of the Star Spangled Banner.
KCRG TV reports 20-year-old Lily Schloss was named the winner of Gray Media’s Star-Spangled Sing Off, a contest launched to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday. Schloss entered through KCRG and was chosen by viewers to advance to a regional round before she emerged as the winner.
Schloss has been performing the anthem in the area for years, most recently at the Savannah Bananas baseball game at Kinnick Stadium in July.
Schloss was flown to Nashville for a personalized recording session in a professional studio. Gray Media’s stations will air her version of the Star Spangled Banner throughout the month nationwide.
