A felony charge has been filed against a Cedar Rapids woman accused of beating her own daughter with a belt in Iowa City.
Iowa City Police were called to a residence on Regal Lane just after 4:00 Thursday afternoon for a report of child abuse. Arriving officers say they determined that 40-year-old Amber Autumn Mason of 17th Street SE had struck her daughter with a belt, leaving injuries to the girl’s legs.
Mason is charged with Child Endangerment Causing Injury. If convicted, she faces up to five years in prison.
