An Iowa man given a pre-trial release is back behind bars after allegedly violating the terms of his release.
36-year-old Jason Champion was arrested back in March after investigators discovered he was enticing a minor for sexual purposes. The incidents occurred in Oxford between October 8th and 31st of 2025. While living in a trailer on the property, he allegedly was with a 14-year-old without any other adult supervision despite being a registered sex offender. He reportedly asked the minor about their sexual past, made comments about their body, and said he wouldn’t tell anyone if they had sex.
Champion is accused of also offering marijuana to the minor. The victim told investigators that they found his comments offensive and made them uncomfortable.
Champion was arrested March 24th and was released ahead of trial. He was also given permission to travel in June, and court records indicate he was arrested for domestic assault July 25th in St Peters Missouri.
A warrant to revoke pretrial release was issued August 5th; Champion was taken into custody September 2nd. His trial is set for September 15th on charges of grooming, enticing a minor for sexual purposes, child endangerment and drug distribution to a minor. If convicted on all counts, Champion could be sentenced to up to 37 years in prison.
