Cedar Rapids Police issued their official crime statistics through August of this year last week.

KCRG TV reports six crime indicators all showed declines compared to five-year averages, and five of the six were improved from 2025.

Homicides, cases of aggravated assault, burglary, theft from vehicles, and theft of vehicles all showed declines from last year at this time.

Shots fired incidents rose slightly from 26 incidents in 2025 to 28 so far this year. However, the figure is less than half of the five-year average of 58.
