Two Cedar Rapids street projects in progress have been paused after the contractor informed the city it cannot complete the work.
The Gazette reports Shift Companies notified the city last week that they would not complete the two open projects, which are part of the city’s Paving for Progress roadway improvement program.
The projects are on 34th Street SE and on the northeast side including Richard Drive, Nancy Jane Lane, Brookland Drive and Redbud Road.
Public Works Director Brenna Fall said Shift Companies did not provide an explanation for their default., and the city is working to get the work moving again as quickly as possible.
The company previously completed another project in the city without issue.
