The next court date has been scheduled for an Iowa City murder suspect.
On Wednesday, Judge Valerie Clay set a Monday hearing for 20-year-old Denario Mobley. Mobley is charged with shooting 38-year-old Christine Blount behind a South Lucas Street apartment building just after 2:30 on the morning of December 30th, 2024. According to Iowa City Police, Mobley left his apartment on the 600 block of South Dodge Street, crossed the alley while armed with a 9mm handgun, and shot Blount as she was sitting in a vehicle parked behind 637 South Lucas Street. Blount later died at University of Iowa Health Care.
As a result of the investigation, Mobley faces one count of 1st Degree Murder. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
