One of two downtown Iowa City robbery suspects has reached a plea deal.
Two Cedar Rapids men…20-year-old J’Mirrion Walton and 21-year-old Andrue Cunningham…were accused of robbing a man outside the Iowa City Public Library at around 1:45 on the morning of June 15th, 2025. The two allegedly got away with the victim’s phone, wallet, and cash. Surveillance video from the area reportedly shows Walton and Cunningham leading the victim toward the library, then running from the area shortly afterward.
A 2nd Degree Robbery charge against Walton was dismissed last week. Three days later, Cunningham reached a plea agreement on the same charge, and a plea hearing is now set for 9:45 Friday morning at the Johnson County courthouse.
2nd Degree Robbery is punishable by a maximum of ten years in prison.
