The Cedar Crossing Casino and Entertainment Center will open weeks ahead of schedule.
That’s according to Peninsula Pacific Entertainment, who held a media conference Thursday to announce the Cedar Rapids project will open in mid-November.
Developers say the work of local contractors, strategic planning, and favorable weather has kept the project ahead of schedule for several months.
Entertainment for the first months were also announced. They include the Pork Tornadoes on November 25th, Old Dominion on December 5th, and Steve-O on December 12th.
WFC will host a fight night January 16th. Other artists scheduled to perform include Switchfoot, the Marshall Tucker Band, The Commodores and Carrot Top.
The Casino is the result of a decades-long effort. The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission rejected proposals in 2014 and 2017 before the project was finally green-lighted.
Studies estimate Cedar Crossing could create a $2.25 billion impact across the state.
