With the Red Cross declaring a national blood emergency this week, local blood supplies continue to be sufficient.

That’s according to Impact Life spokesperson Kirby Winn, who issued an e-mail on the subject Thursday. They have donation centers in Iowa City on the Coralville Strip and on Williams Boulevard and 1st Avenue NE in Cedar Rapids. To thank those who schedule appointments at ImpactLife donor centers during this challenging period, the blood center is increasing the value of Donor Rewards through August 9 by $20 (gift card or donation value) for whole blood and double red cell donations made at ImpactLife Donor Centers

Additionally, donation opportunities are available around the area.

Friday, the “donor bus” will be at the Louisa County Fair in Columbus Junction from 11-2. From 2-5:30, you can donate at FaithLife Church in Marion.

Summer is always a challenge for blood donations, with school blood drives on hiatus, with summer vacation season and events impacting routine donations.

To find further opportunities to give blood, go to bloodcenter.org or redcross.org. The Red Cross is currently providing an up to $15 Fandango Movie Ticket for each donation, and will offer Amazon gift cards for those who donate during August.
