An Iowa City woman was arrested after an investigation determined she was stealing from her employer.
According to court records, 52-year-old Anjanette Turner of Dolen Place was working at the Maverik convenience store on the Coralville Strip. Between December 24th of last year and January 22nd of this year, surveillance video allegedly showed her accepting cash payments from customers, and rather than putting the cash in the register, she placed the money in her pocket or under an item on the counter and closing the register.
Transaction receipts from the store reportedly showed Turner voiding the transactions as if they never took place. The store not only lost the cash, but the value of the items customers purchased. Authorities say that Turner took over $860 during the period in question.
A warrant was issued on March 5th, and Turner remained at large until served August 20th. She faces a charge of 3rd degree Theft and could be sentenced to up to two years in jail if convicted. Turner was released on her own recognizance pending arraignment.
