A Washington Iowa man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly assaulting his wife at a Coralville campground.
46-year-old Derek Eliff of East 22nd Street was camping at the Coralville Reservoir in a tent with his wife and allegedly struck her in the head. Witnesses say Eliff punched the woman several times in the head, causing her head to hit a tree. Upon contact, the victim had swelling and red marks on the back of her head and forehead.
The couple have two children together. Eliff was convicted of domestic abuse assault in Clinton County back in 2019. He was charged with a second offense, punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted.
A no-contact order was requested between the couple.
