DES MOINES, Iowa—The National Weather Service Office in Des Moines has released the most recent updated information about severe weather. Extreme heat with heat indices of 105°F to 115°F on Monday, then hot again on Tuesday with heat indices of 100°F to 105°F. Strong to severe storms with damaging wind potential tonight into early Monday morning. Additional severe weather with damaging wind potential on Monday night into early Tuesday morning.
For the heat: Area-wide today, then south on Tuesday. For the storms tonight: mainly over northern, northeastern and eastern Iowa. For the storms Monday night: Mainly over northern into north central Iowa.
