A Davenport man was arrested for his second OWI after allegedly being found in a ditch in rural Johnson County.

A Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy was on patrol Saturday evening when he observed a vehicle in the ditch across from the Poor Farm on IWV Road. The driver was allegedly passed out behind the wheel.

Upon contact, there was a strong odor of alcoholic beverages. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Cortez Brown, reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and unsteady balance. After performing poorly on field sobriety tests, Brown provided a breath sample on a Datamaster test showing his breath-alcohol level at .155 percent.

Brown has a previous OWI on his record from September 2025.

He was charged with OWI second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison sentence of up to two years. He was also cited for failure to maintain control.
