A crash that deployed every airbag inside his vehicle has led to the arrest of a Kalona man.
North Liberty Police were alerted to a reckless driver southbound on Kansas Avenue at 12:15 Sunday morning. Witnesses said the vehicle had been all over the roadway and had hit several traffic cones.
The vehicle in question…a 2012 GMC Terrain…was found parked near the intersection of Kansas Avenue and Cora Drive. The car had extensive damage, a cracked windshield, and all the airbags had been deployed. The driver…21-year-old Bryce Weber of 10th Street…claimed he had spun out on gravel, went into the ditch, and continued driving. Weber reportedly told the officer he had just left Woody’s Show Club in Cedar Rapids and was heading home…which he allegedly claimed was also in Cedar Rapids.
Police say Weber claimed to have consumed about ten beers. He was cleared by paramedics, and his breath alcohol level was measured at .183%.
Weber is charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
