A high-speed chase on Interstate 80 that stretched for over 35 miles has led to a Chicago man’s arrest.

The Iowa State Patrol reports a trooper clocking a 2026 Nissan Sentra traveling at 104 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone on I-380 southbound near the I-80 interchange just before 9:00 Saturday night. A traffic stop was attempted near the Coral Ridge exit on I-80, but the vehicle fled eastbound. The chase reached speeds up to 125 miles per hour before stop sticks were deployed near the Durant exit in Cedar County. The driver then fled on foot before being apprehended.

The State Patrol says the suspect, 26-year-old Davion Fuquay, turned off all the lights on his vehicle during the pursuit and passed other motorists on the shoulder. A search of his car reportedly turned up marijuana, an open container of alcohol, and three fake driver’s licenses: two from Iowa and one from Illinois.

Fuquay is charged with Felony Eluding, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Fictitious ID. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
