DES MOINES, Iowa—The National Weather Service Office in Des Moines has provided updated information about the potential for severe weather and hydrological concerns: Rounds of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall continue this week and into the weekend. Persistent heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding and/or river flooding. Severe weather chances return Friday, with all severe hazards possible. Storms will affect Central and Southern Iowa today through Thursday. A more widespread impact potential will be in place Friday into Saturday. Weather models show storms will occur today through much of the week. The severe potential will be in place Friday afternoon and evening.
