An Iowa City woman wanted for a road rage incident earlier this summer was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly damaging a neighbor’s door.
The incident occurred on the 700 block of East Market Street. Police responded to a report of a neighbor who broke the reporting party’s door just after 2pm. Upon arrival, the victims confirmed that 33-year-old Yasmine Lee got into a text argument with one of them and showed the texts to officers.
The argument escalated to Lee breaking the door, causing an estimated $1000 in damage.
When confronted, Lee allegedly admitted to being at the victim’s address but denied causing the damage.
Lee was wanted on a warrant issued August 13th for a road rage incident that was recorded on video July 30th. She allegedly drove westbound in the eastbound lane on the 400 block of East Burlington Street to pass the other driver. She then reportedly got out of the vehicle and approached the driver, hitting him in the head twice through the sunroof of his vehicle.
Lee went back to her vehicle, but then returned to the man and threw liquid on his vehicle.
Lee was charged with 3rd degree criminal mischief for Tuesday’s incident, with general assault and disorderly conduct for the earlier altercation. If convicted on all counts, she could be sentenced to up to 26 months in jail.
