An Iowa City man was arrested Sunday night after an altercation with his in-laws.
The incident occurred on the 1300 block of Croell Avenue in Tiffin. According to the police report, 39-year-old Dang Nguyen of Wetherby Drive was at his wife’s parents residence to attempt to pick up his children. When his wife and her siblings came outside, Nguyen allegedly got aggressive and began to push them.
During the altercation, Nguyen reportedly swung at his wife’s brother. He also swung at his sister-in-law, striking her in the face and causing pain to her jaw. Nguyen also allegedly told his brother-in-law that he was going to kill him.
Nguyen was taken into custody and charged with general assault, assault causing bodily injury, and 1st degree Harassment. If convicted on all counts, Nguyen could be sentenced to over 3 years in prison.
