An Iowa City man with a warrant is accused of trying to keep officers from taking him into custody.
Police observed 48-year-old Luis Carchi of Laurel Street inside a garage at his residence Tuesday night, and he was known to have an active arrest warrant. Carchi allegedly tried to shut the garage door on officers and then refused several commands to step outside despite being informed that he was under arrest.
Carchi reportedly never left the garage voluntarily, and officers had to enter the structure to arrest him.
Carchi was charged with interference with official acts. A non jury trial on the charge has been scheduled for October 13th.
