A Solon woman was arrested after allegedly operating a boat while under the influence of alcohol.
A DNR officer was called out to Lake McBride State Park Sunday afternoon on a report about a tire left in a picnic area. A passerby flagged the officer down and believed that a woman, identified as 48-year-old Jaime Bell of Lake View Drive NE was possibly intoxicated.
The officer had observed Bell having difficulty loading her boat onto a trailer after it came in to dock a few minutes earlier. He allowed Bell to finish loading the boar and contacted her in the rigging area.
Bell reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and had the odor of ingested alcohol. She allegedly admitted to drinking, and a can of beer was observed in the bottom of the boar. After showing impairment on field tests, Bell agreed to a PBT, which showed her breath-alcohol level at .150 percent. A subsequent Datamaster test provided a reading of .129 percent.
Bell was charged with 1st offense Operating a Motorboat while Intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor.
