Three people were injured Monday night in a wrong-way crash outside of Muscatine.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that just before 6:45 p.m. a northbound 2013 Hyundai Accent being driven by 51-year-old Marciela Nunez of Cicero, Illinois was traveling in the southbound lanes of Highway 61 when it attempted a u-turn and struck a southbound 2023 Dodge RAM 1500 near the highway’s intersection of Sweetland Road.
Nunez and the driver of the RAM, 52-year-old Mark Lawrence of Fruitland, were both transported to Unity Point Hospital by the Muscatine Fire Department. A third person, 24-year-old Robert Mendozamonia of Cicero, was airlifted to University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City.
No other details have been released.
