An Oxford woman accused of making a false report to 9-1-1 was arrested for drunk driving less than two hours later.
That’s according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, which reports 43-year-old Amanda Roy of Center Street contacted the Joint Emergency Communications Center just before 8:15 Tuesday night in reference to a welfare check. A deputy called Roy back, but investigators say she didn’t like his answer and called 9-1-1 two more times with no emergency being reported. Arrest records indicate Roy has a history of making false 9-1-1 calls.
A deputy reports seeing Roy driving on Highway 1 in Solon just after 9:45 Tuesday night. Contact was made in the parking lot of a Market Street apartment building, and Roy reportedly showed signs of intoxication, admitted to drinking, and provided a breath alcohol level above the legal limit for driving.
Roy is charged with Operating While Intoxicated – 3rd or Subsequent Offense and Making a False Report to 9-1-1. The OWI charge is a felony punishable by a maximum of five years in prison.
