A motor vehicle crash near Shueyville has led to numerous charges against a Cedar Rapids woman.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash scene on 120th Street at 5:30 Tuesday night. One of the vehicles reportedly smelled strongly of marijuana. The driver, 25-year-old Janet Burgos of Ann Street SW, allegedly refused to step away from her vehicle when she was told it would be searched. Deputies say she also refused to walk to the squad car, and she was arrested. While being taken into custody, Burgos allegedly bit an officer while resisting.

Marijuana and a grinder were reportedly found in the center console of Burgos’ 2012 Toyota Highlander.

Burgos is charged with Assault on Person in Certain Occupations, Interference With Official Acts, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all counts, she faces a maximum of over three years in jail.
