Coralville Police say a Cedar Rapids man used a baby to help him steal from Best Buy.
The incident in question reportedly occurred on the afternoon of March 25th. Best Buy security footage allegedly shows 51-year-old Marcus Pryor of Woodland Drive SW select items from the shelves and conceal them under a diaper bag upon which the baby was sitting. Police say Pryor took an anti-theft device off of a laptop, put the device behind a television, then put the laptop and a second computer in a plastic shopping bag before leaving the store.
The total cost of the stolen items was $1,649.95. A Best Buy employee reports remembering Pryor from previous incidents, and Pryor was trespassed from Coral Ridge Mall for one year as of April 30th.
Pryor is charged with 2nd Degree Theft. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
