Criminal charges have been filed in connection with a December car accident on Interstate 380.
35-year-old Luis Medel Labrada was charged with Operating While Intoxicated over the weekend. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says Medel Labrada was involved in a rollover accident on I-380 northbound near mile marker 5 just before 1:45 on the morning of December 143th. He walked to the nearby Maverick on Penn Street, where he admitted to being the driver and sole operator of the vehicle. Deputies say Medel Labrada showed signs of intoxication, and he was taken to University of Iowa Heath Care for treatment. A blood draw showed his blood alcohol level at .149%.
If convicted, Medel Labrada faces a maximum of one year in jail.
