A North Liberty man who allegedly assaulted his former live-in girlfriend and harassed her by calling her dozens of times has been arrested.

On October 16th, 54-year-old Rodney Whitmore of Walnut Street was involved with the incident at a Coralville residence. According to the police report, he grabbed the woman by the arm, prying it backwards. This caused a “pop” sound and the victim complained of pain.

The woman told Whitmore to stop contacting her and blocked him on social media sites, but he reportedly called her 40 times in a three hour time frame, 20 of which were within three minutes.

Warrants were issued on both charges October 19th; he was served on Friday and charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury and 3rd degree harassment. If convicted on both charges, Whitmore could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail. A no contact order was issued by Judge Jason Burns, and Whitmore was released on his own recognizance pending arraignment.
