Democratic candidate for Iowa Governor Rob Sand has withdrawn from the third scheduled debate with Republican opponent Zach Lahn after the death of his brother-in -law last week.
Walter Lauridsen II died after being struck by a vehicle in south-central Iowa on October 15th.
Sand has appeared at smaller campaign events but has postponed others. He has been in contact with the Lahn campaign, and they hope to reschedule the debate.
The debate was scheduled for Iowa PBS on Wednesday.
The Lahn campaign said in a statement that they were supportive of Sand’s decision to withdraw from this week’s debate and will work with the station on rescheduling.
