CommUnity Crisis Center and Food Bank has announced they are one of a handful of organizations across the nation selected to answer contacts to the restored 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s ‘Press 3’ services for LGBTQ+ youth.

According to a release from the organization, before the line was abruptly discontinued last year, CommUnity was among the organizations answering calls and texts from LGBTQ+ youth who reached out to 988 looking for someone who would listen, understand, and meet them with compassion.

For LGBTQ+ youth, having access to a trained, empathetic counselor can make a meaningful difference during a difficult or overwhelming moment.

The service started up again on October 1. LGBTQ+ youth and others seeking support through the specialized LGBTQ+ service can call or text 988 and press 3 to be connected with a trained counselor.

If you or someone you know is struggling, overwhelmed, or simply needs someone to listen, please reach out by calling or texting 988 and pressing 3.
