A transient currently being held at the John son County Jail is accused of intentionally damaging a kiosk at the facility.
34-year-old Daniel Wolfe has been incarcerated in the jail for about ten days after he allegedly struck someone with an ax near the homeless encampment by Mesquakie Park on McCollister Boulevard earlier this month, causing cuts to the man’s hand and bicep. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says at about 4:00 Tuesday afternoon Wolfe intentionally punched a kiosk screen at the jail five times, shattering the screen. The cost to replace the kiosk is estimated at between $750 and $1,500. Jail staff say Wolfe later admitted to punching the kiosk.
Wolfe is now charged with 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief, in addition to previous charges of Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, Assault While Displaying a Weapon, and Going Armed With Intent in relation to the ax incident. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 14 years in prison.
