A North Liberty man who was reportedly upset because his domestic partner was out with friends was arrested after allegedly assaulting her.
The incident occurred at the Cattail Lane residence of 42-year-old Adam Odom. According to police, they were called to the site Tuesday just after 11pm on reports of a domestic assault in progress. Upon arrival, they found the victim crying in the driveway with blood around the outside of her mouth, a swollen bruise on her forehead, a cut on her forearm, and red marks on her throat.
She stated that when she arrived home after spending time with friends at a casino, Odom, who has lived at the residence with her for about four months, had been drinking and was upset with her for being gone. He reportedly struck her in the head several times and she fell to the ground. Odom then allegedly began to wrap his hand around her throat and placed the other hand on her mouth so she couldn’t breathe.
Odom was arrested when he walked out of the house. He was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Bodily Injury, a Class D felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.
A no-contact order was requested between the couple.
