A Marion man is accused of using a glass bottle as a weapon during an Iowa City mobile home park brawl.
Johnson County deputies were called to the Lake Ridge manufactured housing community just after 10:30 last Sunday night for a fight in progress on Mineral Point Lane.
Arriving officers were told 34-year-old Christian Swedi of Bullis Drive had been involved in a fight with another subject that stretched across a neighboring yard and the adjacent street. At one point, Swedi allegedly hit the other party with a glass bottle, which shattered. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment for a cut and swelling over his left eye.
Deputies reviewed video of the incident and determined Swedi was the primary aggressor. He’s now charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, Disorderly Conduct, and Public Intoxication. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 14 months in jail.
