Marylin Louise Weeda was born October 7, 1941, to Loyd and Leona Minnick on the family farm south of Tingley, Iowa. Marylin passed away on August 20, 2026, at the age of 84.
Marylin attended Mount Ayr School for 1 year and the rest at Tingley.
Marylin married Kenneth Weeda on August 10, 1958, and they lived on a farm north of Tingley for 10 years. Then, they moved to Marylin’s home farm where they raised their family. To this marriage were born 4 children; 2 boys Terry Paul and Gary Dean and 2 girls Sandra Lynne and Mary Ann. Marylin lived on her home place for 70 years of her life.
Marylin loved cooking, baking, and attending her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s school programs and ballgames. They were her pride and joy.
She helped Kenny with the farming and was Kenny’s substitute bus driver. She cooked at school for 28 years and cooked at the Tingley Meal Site. For vacation she cooked for the Fair Board of the Iowa State Fair for 35 years and 2 years for the Christian Church at the 4-H Building at the Iowa State Fair.
After retiring from cooking at the school, she continued to drive the school bus on extra trips and Kenny would ride along. Marylin drove bus trips until Kenny was unable.
Marylin served her community many years donating homemade cinnamon rolls and pies for fundraisers.
Survivors include her children Terry (Jackie) Weeda, Gary Weeda, Sandra French (Steve Dymond), and Mary Ann (Tom) Kramer; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Mary Jane (Minnick) Mosby and Linda (Minnick) Swan; sisters-in-law Karen Minnick, Teresa (Weeda) Kurtz and Linda (Weeda) Grandfield; brother-in-law Keith Weeda and other family and friends.
Marylin was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; parents Loyd and Leona Minnick; parents-in-law Paul and Helen Weeda; sisters-in-law Cindy Weeda and Judy Minnick; brothers-in-law Pat Swan and Robert Mosby; and brothers Richard and Lyle.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr. Casketbearers were Nathan Weeda, Chase French, Austin French, Cameron Weeda, Adam Kramer, Chet Strobbe, Logan Wendland, Ryder French, Travis Van Dyn Hoven. Honorary Pallbearers were LaShay French, Lasea Weeda, Amber (Kramer) Wendland, Candace (Weeda) Strobbe, Andrea (Kramer) Van Dyn Hoven. Burial was in the Tingley Cemetery.
Memorials are to the Tingley Community Building and Tingley United Methodist Church.
