A Chicago man was taken into custody after allegedly being found with marijuana.

A Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy was at the Kwik Star in Tiffin late Monday night attending to a woman’s vehicle. Nearby was 25-year-old Hugo Espinoza; his girlfriend is the daughter of the woman with the disabled vehicle.

The deputy reportedly detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from Espinoza’s vehicle; a search located approximately 105 grams of marijuana in a gallon-sized bag in the trunk. The bag failed to have a proper drug stamp.

Espinoza was charged with a Class D substance violation, failure to affix drug stamp, and keeping vehicle for controlled substances. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison.
