The City of West Branch is preparing residents for the impending switch to a new garbage and recycling service.

A message from the city on Wednesday reminds West Branch residents to leave their trash and recycle carts out at the end of their driveways throughout the day, and until at least 4:00 p.m. in order to allow staff to go around and get an accurate count of what each household has for cart size and amount.  The cart census is necessary to prepare for the switch from LRS to Smith Sanitation, which will happen soon.

The City of West Branch has posted about issues with LRS to Facebook in the past, joining complaints about the company from the cities of North Liberty, Tiffin, Oxford, Solon, and Shueyville, as well as an Iowa City Homeowners Association. The City of Swisher switched to N&N Sanitation out of Kalona earlier this year, while Riverside changed over to Smith Sanitation in Tiffin earlier this month.
