A reported threat involving a firearm had led to numerous charges against an Iowa City man.

Iowa City Police say just after 8:15 Friday night 40-year-old Nathan Jones was in his car near the intersection of Highway 1 and Mormon Trek Boulevard when he allegedly threatened a passenger in his vehicle with a black handgun, allegedly telling the man he was going to kill him. Jones then left the scene.

A search warrant executed later that night on Jones’ residence on the 3600 block of Highway 1 SW allegedly turned up multiple jars of raw marijuana, a marijuana grow operation, a large amount of packaging materials, two baggies of a white powdery substance, a meth pipe, multiple THC cartridges, a marijuana pipe, and several empty marijuana wax containers.

Jones was arrested and charged with Dominion or Control of a Firearm By a Felon, Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon, Person Ineligible to Cary Dangerous Weapons, a Controlled Substance Violation, Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, Keeping Premises for the Use of Controlled Substances, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all counts, Jones faces a maximum of over 21 years in prison.
