The Colfax-Mingo School Board has Hired Drake Buscherfeld as the new Varsity head football coach. Buscherfeld is a graduate of Bishop Garrigan High School in Algona, and the University of Northern Iowa. He began his career coaching varsity football, track, and baseball at Dike-New Hartford High School. While there, the football team made it to the state semi-finals in 2021. Currently, he is employed at Jesup High School teaching and coaching varsity football and track. This year’s football team won a playoff game for the first time in school history. Buscherfeld says he’s “beyond proud and excited to be the next Head Football Coach at Colfax-Mingo”. He adds that he’s been blessed to learn under amazing coaches in Don Betts at Dike New Hartford and Jacob McMartin from Jesup, and he “can’t wait to get to work in Colfax-Mingo’s top notch facilities to build a program that the athletes and community can be proud of!” Colfax-Mingo was 1 and 8 this past season under former coach Jeff Lietz. The Tigerhawks have not had a winning season since the team won 5 games and lost 4 in 2018.
