
A 28 year old record high temperature in Newton was broken yesterday and another record High for today is expected to fall as well. The High Temrerature at the KCOB studios yesterday was 76, which is a new record high for February 26th. The City’s previous record high was 67 set in 1896. Today’s record high in Newton for February 27th is just 62, set in 1981. Today’s forecast calls for a high of 66. National Weather Service Meteorologist Kristy Carter says lows statewide tonight will be in the single digits and teens, with a possibility of snow in some areas. Our mid-week cold spell will be short-loved though according to Carter. She says warmer temperatures are expected for the first weekend in March. The first official day of Spring is March 19th.
