A Chicagoland man was arrested after allegedly confronting two men with a knife this summer
The incident reportedly occurred at DC’s Sports Bar on South Dubuque Street the evening of July 25th. According to court records, 41-year-old Ian Nilausen of St. Charles Illinois was interrupted while using a restroom stall by two other patrons. The two left Nilausen to use a different restroom, and reportedly tried to leave the bar afterwards.
Nilausen allegedly called out the two men and had to go around a bar table and traverse the bar to approached the two men, who reportedly were clearly leaving without provocation. Nilausen approached them with a pocketknife at chest level and told them “get out this bar.” He reportedly had his hand on one of the men’s chests while displaying the knife.
The two men stepped back with their hands in a defensive manner.
When interviewed, Nilausen told officers that he was too intoxicated to remember the incident.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on August 7th. Nilausen remained at large until he was taken into custody Tuesday. He was charged with two counts of Assault while Displaying a Dangerous Weapon and could face up to four years in prison if convicted on both counts.
Nilausen posted bond and will be arraigned at a later date.
