An arrest has been made in a nearly year-old rioting case stemming from an incident at the Old Capitol Town Center.

22-year-old Jovon Clark-Vandenberg of 18th Avenue in Coralville was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 11:15 Saturday night. Iowa City Police say just after 2:30 on the afternoon of October 30th, 2025 Clark-Vandenberg went to the Old Capitol Town Center with two juvenile co-defendants for what appeared to be the sole purpose of locating and assaulting the alleged victim. The three reportedly attacked the subject unprovoked after they arrived at the South Clinton Street facility. That touched off a large fight involving eight people in the middle of the mall.

Police say Clark-Vandenberg can be seen on video assaulting multiple subjects, including a juvenile girl. He’s now charged with Rioting. If convicted, Clark-Vandenberg faces a maximum of five years in prison.
