A Des Moines County man is accused of fighting with Iowa City Police.

Arrest records indicate 25-year-old Carlton Martinez Hale of Burlington was fighting with his brother near the intersection of Iowa Avenue and Dubuque Street at 2:00 Saturday morning when it was broken up by police. The brother then allegedly walked away and began a second fight with someone else.

When officers tried to take the brother into custody, Martinez Hale purportedly tried to pull them off of him. Martinez Hale allegedly refused to put his hands behind his back when asked, and reportedly shoved an officer in the chest. Martinez Hale was eventually arrested and charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication, and Interference With Official Acts. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 27 months in jail.

22-year-old Carlo Martinez Hale, also of Halliburton, is charged with Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication, and Interference With Official Acts. He could face up to three months behind bars, if convicted on all counts.
