A driver from Arizona has been arrested in Johnson County after allegedly being clocked at 112 miles per hour on Interstate 80.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that was the speed recorded by a trooper doing routine traffic patrol on westbound I-80 near the West Branch exit just after 12:15 Sunday morning. The 2014 Dodge Challenger pulled over just east of the Rochester Avenue exit, and the driver…identified as 24-year-old Brenden Leeper of Phoenix…allegedly showed signs of intoxication. Leeper reportedly claimed he had consumed one beer at a wedding, but his breath alcohol level was measured at .144% on a portable Breathalyzer test and .171% on a Datamaster.
Leeper is charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
