Officials at PepsiCo, the company that runs the Quaker Oats plant in Cedar Rapids, still have no timeline for production to resume after an October 24th fire.
KCRG TV reports the company is continuing to assess the damage and working to get the facility fully operational. The timeline depends on how the facility was built and how long the fire burned.
University of Iowa mechanical engineering professor Albert Ratner told TV9 that while some structural repairs may be relatively straightforward, replacing damaged equipment can pose challenges due to availability of parts and getting professionals to come in and install them.
PepsiCo said it will communicate directly with employees about when production will resume and how they will be affected as soon as that information is available.
