An Illinois man was arrested this week after allegedly using another person’s personal information to open a store credit card.
Police say 26-year-old Davion Fuquay of West 72nd Street in Chicago was at the Ashley HomeStore on Coral Ridge Avenue the evening of October 22nd with a fraudulent identification card, portraying him as another individual. The card had his own picture on it, and Fuquay allegedly knew the man’s Social Security number, address, phone number, full name and date of birth.
Fuquay reportedly opened a Wells Fargo financing account using the victim’s personal information and financed a furniture order of over $9150. Surveillance footage from the store allegedly showed Fuquay completing the financing. He reportedly left the store and dropped the fake ID in the parking lot of the store.
A warrant was issued for Fuquay’s arrest Monday; he was already in the Johnson County Jail for an incident on October 24th for eluding, possessing a fake ID and marijuana possession. He was additionally charged with identity theft and possession of a fictitious ID.
If convicted on all charges relating to the two incidents, Fuquay could be sentenced to up to 13 years in prison.
